The Spanish international midfielder has moved to Stamford Bridge on a five-year deal, and will wear the number four shirt in west London next season.
"Firstly I would like to thank everyone at FC Barcelona where I enjoyed three wonderful years. It was my childhood club and I will always be proud and honoured that I had a chance to play for such a great team," he said in a statement on the official Chelsea website.
"I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the
best choice. They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies. They have an amazing squad of players and an incredible manager. I am fully committed to this team and I can't wait to start playing."
His move is unlikely to be well received by Arsenal fans, having spent eight-years under Arsene Wenger after joining the club as a 16-year-old back in 2003. During his spell with the Gunners he failed to win a Premier League title, but did lift one FA Cup trophy back in 2005.
After returning to the Nou Camp, Fabregas has won one La Liga and one Copa del Rey title, but was unable to help Barca lift the Champions League once again.
He will hope to end his European Cup drought at Chelsea, and there is little doubt that manager Jose Mourinho wants to bring that trophy back to the King's Road after going close with the club on a number of occasions in the past.
Fabregas joins a plethora of midfield talent when he arrives at Chelsea after the World Cup, with Ramires, Nemanja Matic, Oscar, Willian and Eden Hazard also fighting for first team chances.
